Theo a 2 semaines ! Bonne nuit, je me réveille avant le réveil maintenant. Petite routine établie, Kevan est vraiment exceptionnel, j'espère que cette vie ne va pas durer trop longtemps, on a besoin de se poser. Bons allaitements, mais comment savoir si BB prend assez ? Difficile de savoir. Debby la nazie de l'allaitement est contente de mes tirages, ouf, j'échappe aux médocs ! Changement de plan d'alimentation pour BB : note F pas de supplément, E ou D : on lui donne une moitié. En dessous de D, supplément au complet. Supplément de 32 ml de EBM (Enhanced Breast Milk ou "Lait Maternel Fortifié" - Lait Maternel mélangé à un sachet de fortifiants et diverses vitamines). Nous devenons pro des mélanges et mesures à la pipette et à la seringue. Il a droit à 37 ml de EBM la nuit (donné par l'infirmière en charge). On l'engraisse comme une oie toutes les 3h. Je tire mon lait 30 minutes après chaque allaitement et toutes les 3h pendant la nuit. Visite sage-femme niveau 2 : tout OK. Dîner préparé par Raj et Anita (collègue de Kevan), trop bon. Je me sens paresseuse de n'avoir rien fait pour les autres avant, bluffée par tant de générosité, ne pas oublier et dorénavant essayer de rendre la donne.
Theo is 2 weeks old ! Good night, I wake up before the alarm clock now. New routine well set up, Kevan is really exceptional, I hope this life is not going to last too long, we need to settle and rest soon. Good breastfeeds but how do you know BB is taking enough ? Difficult to know. Debby the breastfeeding-nazie is happy about my milk supply, relief, I will not have to take drugs ! Change in the feeding plan for BB: if F mark at breastfeeding no top-up. E or D: half a top-up. Less than D: full top-up. Top-up is 32 ml of EBM (Enhanced Breast Milk: Breast Milk mixed with a paquet of vitamins/fortifiers). We become very good at measuring milk, drops, using syringe and measuring cups and instruments... BB takes 37ml of EBM at night (given by a nurse through the feeding tube). He is fed every 3hrs (if sleeping, we give him milk through the feeding tube, I feel like I am force-feeding a duck sometimes !). I express 30 minutes after each feed and every 3hrs during the night. Appointment with a midwife on Level 2: all OK. Diner tonight prepared for us by Raj and Anita (Kevan's colleague), very nice and good. I feel bad and lazy of having done nothing for them before, I am surprised by such generosity. Let's not forget and try to give back as well when we have a chance.
